Down Goes Reyes

Hell, spring training really hasn’t started yet and already there is a bombshell, and not in a good way.

It seems Alex Reyes has been shut down with a bum throwing elbow and is being dispatched to have an MRI of his wing, types Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Mozeliak said that Reyes had experienced soreness in the elbow recently, and he had alerted the team before Tuesday’s physical that there was a possible issue. The team did not know if that would slow his preparation this spring, but they did have him on the schedule to throw. Reyes has also been selected for the World Baseball Classic, and the Cardinals do have the right to hold him back from the tournament if they fear he could cause more harm to an injury, or a potential injury.

Results of the MRI are unknown.

Welcome to spring training!

Joe somehow suspects this will somehow be blamed on the Cardinals being penalized two draft picks for hacking.
