Preparing For Trade Winds

Trade coming?
Trade coming?

As it seems the St. Louis area is preparing for an ice storm, could the Cardinals be prepping for a trade?

That seems to be the idea from Jeff Gordon of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The columnist believes in the months ahead, the Cardinals will be active on the trade front as the organization has been stockpiling pitching talent.

Expect to see more deals like that (and bigger ones, too) during the months and years to come. Rather than lose his extra pitchers for nothing — via waivers or the Rule 5 draft as they come of age — Mozeliak will get to move them for other assets.

Now what Gordon writes makes sense, but he sort of Pearl Harbored his premise when, in the excerpt Joe cites, Gordon was talking about the notorious blockbuster trade where Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak shipped Rob Kaminsky to Cleveland for one-trick pony, the selfish Brandon Moss.

If getting the Brandon Moss’ of the world is what Mozeliak is stockpiling talent for, then Mozeliak needs to try a new career. Like changing oil at a local Dobbs Tire store.
